Mounjaro Vial vs KwikPen: Price, Strengths and Which to Choose in India

A Mounjaro 2.5 mg vial costs about ₹3,281 and a 5 mg vial about ₹4,102, exactly the per-dose price of the KwikPen. Vials lower the upfront bill (one week at a time) but need a syringe and stop at 5 mg; the pen covers every strength up to 15 mg.

Three injection pens beside a paper calendar marking one week each month

A Mounjaro 2.5 mg vial costs about ₹3,281 and a 5 mg vial about ₹4,102 (MRP as of October 2026). That is exactly the per-dose price of the KwikPen, because four vials cost the same as one pen. The real differences are how much you pay upfront, how you inject, and which strengths you can get.

Here is the side-by-side, and how to decide.

Key takeaways

  • Per dose, vial and pen cost the same: four 2.5 mg vials = ₹13,125 = one 2.5 mg pen; four 5 mg vials = ₹16,406 = one 5 mg pen.
  • Vials come only in the lower strengths (2.5 mg and 5 mg). The KwikPen comes in all six, 2.5 mg to 15 mg.
  • A vial is one dose, drawn up with a syringe. A KwikPen holds four weekly doses and needs a new pen needle each week.
  • Yurpeak, Cipla's brand of the same Eli Lilly tirzepatide, is sold only as the KwikPen.
  • Choose by convenience and cash flow, not by price per dose. Your doctor sets the dose.

So the Mounjaro injection 5 mg price is about ₹4,102 a dose whichever format you buy, and ₹16,406 for a month. For every strength and what the month-by-month bill looks like, see our Mounjaro price guide.

Why vials can still feel cheaper

With vials you can buy one week at a time: about ₹3,281 instead of ₹13,125 upfront in month 1. That helps if you want to try the first two weeks before committing, or if cash flow is tight.

But the month costs the same in the end. And the moment your doctor moves you above 5 mg, you move to the pen anyway, because vials stop at 5 mg.

Convenience and needles

Vial

  • Single-dose: each vial holds one weekly dose.
  • You draw the dose into a syringe and inject it. Your doctor or pharmacist tells you which syringe to use.
  • One new syringe and needle every week, bought separately.
  • More steps, so more room for error with bubbles or the amount drawn. Ask to be shown the method the first time.

KwikPen

  • Multi-dose: one pen holds four weekly doses of one strength.
  • No dose to dial and no drawing up. Attach a new pen needle, prime once on a new pen, inject, hold for five seconds.
  • Pen needles (4 mm or 5 mm, 32G is standard) are usually sold separately in India.
  • Easier to carry and easier to get right, especially for first-time injectors.

Our step-by-step guide on how to use the Mounjaro and Yurpeak KwikPen covers priming, injection sites and the mistakes that waste a dose.

Why Yurpeak is pen-only

Mounjaro launched in India in March 2025 as vials, and the KwikPen followed in August 2025. Yurpeak, the same Eli Lilly tirzepatide marketed by Cipla, launched in December 2025 in the KwikPen only, across all six strengths, at the same MRP as Mounjaro.

In practice this means a vial prescription can only be filled with Mounjaro, while a pen prescription can be filled with either brand at the same price. More in Yurpeak vs Mounjaro: the difference.

Not sure which format suits you?

Take the 2-minute assessment and book a free online consultation with a senior specialist. They will tell you plainly whether tirzepatide is right for you, and in which form.

Storage

Both formats are stored unopened in the fridge at 2 to 8°C, on the middle shelf, never in the door and never frozen. A tirzepatide pen or vial that has frozen is finished, even after thawing.

Out of the fridge, the product label allows up to 21 days at room temperature up to 30°C. In most of India, April to June is hotter than that indoors, so keep it in the fridge between doses. For travel, use an insulated pouch with a gel pack in your cabin bag.

Check what you receive

Vials and pens should arrive cold, sealed, with a batch number and expiry. Anything sold without a prescription, far below MRP, or labelled as generic or compounded tirzepatide is not an approved product in India. See how to buy Mounjaro online safely.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose vials if you are starting at 2.5 mg or 5 mg, are comfortable with a syringe, and want to pay week by week.
  • Choose the KwikPen if you want the simplest routine, are likely to go above 5 mg, or want the option of Yurpeak if Mounjaro is out of stock.

ALTRcare dispenses tirzepatide as the KwikPen. Our tirzepatide 3-month plan is ₹34,999 for all three doses (2.5 mg → 5 mg → 7.5 mg) as Mounjaro or Yurpeak pens, with 3 doctor consultations, a nutritionist and cold-chain delivery, GST included.
